The Design
Situated to the north of the township of Merimbula, Tura Beach is the sleepy younger brother offering white sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and picturesque views.
With direct beach access, the Tura Beach House is equipped to enjoy the natural coastal and bushland surroundings. An ocean-facing deck allows the clients to continuously connect with the idyllic landscape.
Layout
An L-shaped design was adopted to provide privacy and as a wind break for protection from ocean breezes. The habitable rooms of the home face inwards, with one interface facing toward the driveway and the other toward the ocean outlook.
An expansive easterly window façade opens up to a narrow deck, allowing the occupants to embrace the magnificent views from beyond the horizon. Stilts were proposed to establish a single-level dwelling across the sloping site, to maximise the effectiveness of the location.
Sustainability
The home is a solar-ready building design, enabling the occupants to reap the environmental and long-term cost-saving benefits of utilising solar power. A fireplace in the living space provides an additional cost-effective solution for heating the home.
