The Design
Located on a steep hillside site bordered by lush bushland with a creek below the property, the area is a nesting hotspot for the endangered Wedge Tailed Eagle.
The clients sought a highly sustainable, high-performing and energy-efficient home, with considered spaces for their young children to play and home offices for a comfortable and functional work-from-home lifestyle.
Layout
The double gable-roof design creates a H-shaped configuration and includes 3 beds, 2.5 baths, 2 study spaces, large kids play area, open plan kitchen and dining, walk in pantry, separate living space with built in fireplace, large garage
Materials
Colorbond cladding in the shade Monument has been chosen for the external cladding for it’s durability and sleek Scandi barn-style aesthetic. Additional materials include locally sourced, FSC timber cladding and decking, and a blockwork base and blade wall that surgically cuts through the rolling landscape
Sustainable features
A highly energy-efficient design, the home is equipped with 140 mm thick stud walls to hold high-grade insulation, a heat recovery system in the laundry for significantly improved air quality and air tightness at Passivhaus standard (0.6ach @50Pa).
Unilux Isostar Aluminium clad UPVc frames with triple glazing have been selected for their high thermal efficiency, whilst a fireplace with heat transfer ensures efficient use of any heat generated.
The home has an 8 Star Energy Rating. Learn more about NatHERS energy ratings here.
