The Design
Designed for a busy young family to escape from town, the Little Hampton house has been consciously created to capture memorable moments in time. Seamlessly blending with the natural bushland setting, the house is located on a rising hill, rolling down to meet an expansive dam.
Natural finishes of stone and timber in soft, neutral colours have been utilised internally to harmonise with the bush surrounds. Externally, a matt black façade is paired with Cemintel Barestone cladding and Silver Top Ash decking, specified to offset the bold Colourbond texture and to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
Layout
The house comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living, kitchen and dining area, with rooms cleverly compartmentalised for privacy and solitude when needed.
The main bedroom faces east, capturing the rising morning sun, whilst the living areas face north. A spacious covered western deck has been strategically designed to view the sunset over the scenic Wombat State Forest.
A west-facing outdoor entertaining and social space equipped with an outdoor barbecue and seating area create the perfect spot to pause, reflect and take in some of Australia’s most idyllic scenery.
Sustainability
The property has a BAL rating of 29, with a 10,000 Litre water tank installed for bushfire mitigation measures, in addition to two 30,000-litre water tanks for general use. The home is also solar-ready and has a septic tank system installed for wastewater management.
A fireplace for the cooler months provides a sustainable, cost-saving asset to the home, an alternate heat source and gives a beautiful ambience to the living space.
Interior Palette
A neutral, organic palette of soft greys and timbers has been utilised for the interior palette, creating a peaceful yet modern finish.
In the kitchen, rich grey Nexus Stone benchtops and white Laminex joinery harmonise effortlessly with soft timber accents. A stunning Hergom Glance L Body Fireplace in the living space combines seamlessly with the continuation of the Nexus Stone.
Seasoned oak cabinetry coupled with Concrete Fusion Floor tiles and white Japanese Impression Snow finger tiles from National Tiles, maintains the modern, sophisticated palette of the home, whilst Laminex joinery in Hushed Pine is paired with Oyster Grey benchtops in the laundry space.
