The Design
A simple architectural form with warm, natural materiality and strong connections to the outdoors. The home will sit comfortably within the landscape, framing views towards the forest and bringing natural light deep into the interior spaces.
Large windows and carefully placed openings will strengthen the relationship between inside and out, while the material palette will be explored further during concept design. The home prioritises atmosphere as much as function, warm lighting, framed views, natural textures, and spaces that feel good to spend time in.
Layout
A central open living zone combines the kitchen, dining, and lounge into one shared space, creating a natural hub for entertaining and family life. A dedicated dining area for eight people reflects the clients’ love of hosting, while the fireplace adds warmth and focus to the room.
The main bedroom will be positioned privately, oriented towards views of the forest and separated from the secondary bedrooms where possible. A walk-in robe and simple ensuite are preferred, keeping the space calm and functional.
Two additional bedrooms will support flexible living, with one room also functioning as a study, office, or creative retreat when needed.
Sustainability
The home will be connected to services but designed to be solar-ready for future upgrades. Passive design principles including orientation, glazing, natural light, and thermal performance, will help create a comfortable and energy-efficient home year-round.
A more compact footprint, efficient planning, and durable materials will help reduce waste, simplify construction, and support long-term liveability. The focus is on doing more with less: less excess, less wasted space, and a home that feels considered, efficient, and built to last.
