Insights
from the
architect.
Design
The home’s low-slung form follows the natural contours of the land, sitting comfortably in the hinterland rather than trying to dominate it. It’s the kind of architecture that just gets it, responding to climate, views, and site with confidence. With site-responsive design and passive, durable systems, it delivers a calm, high-performing home built for everyday living.

Layout
At 140 m², the home keeps things modest but still feels spacious. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms sit around a central living area that flows straight out to covered outdoor spaces, stretching daily life beyond the footprint. The zoning is easy and intuitive, private areas are tucked away, while shared spaces stay open and connected, making it just as suited to quiet downtime as it is for entertaining.
Featured Materials
The palette feels elevated, with Weathertex Weathergroove external cladding bringing a mix of durability and texture. Inside, it’s all about warmth and materials you actually want to live with. Everything’s been chosen to last, age well, and handle the coastal hinterland conditions without fuss. home features a palette of refined, contemporary luxury.
Sustainability
Performance is built in from the start, not added as an afterthought. Orientation, cross-ventilation and smart shading do most of the work, keeping things comfortable year-round without much effort.
The home runs fully off-grid with solar and two 25,000L water tanks, supported by high-grade insulation, ceiling fans, and durable natural materials. It also meets a BAL19 rating, with considered material choices and a designated RFS parking space integrated into the design.
Collaborative Details
It was a pleasure to help bring this space to life. The collaborative energy is evident throughout, shaping a modern Northern Rivers home that feels both resolved and effortless. The result is not just visually striking, but carefully considered for the way it’s lived in every day.
