Insights
from the
architect.

Design

The site sits with picturesque views in every direction. Sweeping outlooks across the bush setting are seen to the north, with easterly views toward the valley of the Snowy River.

The clients needed a getaway spot as a retreat from the northern beaches, a place to adventure the charm of the snowy mountains. Being an active family, they wanted a space of respite from the cold and a space to allow their cycling, skiing and hiking lifestyle to be encouraged.

Layout

The home is split into two wings allowing the occupants to adapt to the alpine weather conditions year-round. Comprising 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a library and a study/office space this multi-functional home is well-equipped for rest, work, sleep and fun.

Featured specifications

Merbau timber and sleek black James Hardie Axon cladding in the shade Monument ensures the home blends into the natural landscape, with a soft internal colour palette creating a calming home that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Sustainability

The house is entirely off-grid, with the inclusion of a 25,000L water tank and 15kw solar system. Through clever design choices and the inclusion of eco-friendly materials and technologies, this is a home both the client and the planet will feel good about.

The home has been built to BAL 29 specifications.

Testimonial

“The team really took the time to understand how we use our home, from storing ski gear to creating spaces that are warm and inviting in winter, and open and light-filled in summer. You can tell they think about how people live in their homes, not just how they look.

The quality of the build was great, every detail was considered, and it feels solid, warm, and beautifully finished. It feels like this house was made for us and for this environment. We couldn’t be happier.”
