Jindabyne and the surrounding areas consist of some of Australia’s most unique flora and fauna, with protected snow gum woodlands and alpine environments providing habitat and food sources to various endangered species.

Each season offers a different experience, with snow sports in the cooler months and bush walking and wildflower picking once the weather warms.

Top things to do in Jindabyne:

1. Head to Jindabyne Brewing, a brewery in the heart of the Snowy Mountains offering a range of food and drinks. Learn more here.

2. Cool off in Lake Jindabyne once the weather warms, the perfect spot for fishing, sailing, water-skiing or kayaking. Plan your trip.

Welcome to Arkular’s Jindabyne House

A considered yet contemporary bush design, the Jindabyne House respects and appreciates the constantly evolving environment in which it is situated.

An idyllic place for entertaining and living, the home offers respite from the rugged alpine terrain during the cooler months, whilst also providing a central hub to explore the delights of the Snowy Mountains region.

Reflecting the warmth and familiarity of an alpine cabin, the home is clad in Japanese burnt timber with the deep tones complementing and contrasting against the white snow and providing durability against the harsh Australian elements. The home is entirely off-grid, with the inclusion of a 25,000L water tank and 15kw solar system.

Howqua – Peaceful and Picturesque

Located within Victoria’s Alpine region, Howqua is encompassed by natural beauty, with river flats and rolling green hills covered in towering manna gums and narrow-leaved peppermint trees.

Howqua is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape in the traditional Country of the Taungurung Peoples, with the region providing an important source of the Cambrian greenstone that was prized for creating axes and spearheads.

The Howqua River was once teeming with gold miners, with a gold-bearing reef discovered in the 1870s. Due to this, the population soared and in 1888 the township of Howqua was proclaimed. The gold rush was short-lived and by 1905 all major gold mining operations had ended.

On the Edge of the Alpine National Park – Howqua House

An outdoor-oriented family, the clients sought a space of refuge after a day of activity and to protect them from the winds that blow up the hill.

The home consists of two forms, joined by an entry knuckle that hugs the north-facing deck to capture the winter sun and provide a private retreat for the distillery.

During summer, the house expands out allowing the occupants to revel in indoor-outdoor living, entertaining and relaxing and take in the magnificent surrounding views.

Southern Highlands House

The Southern Highlands House has been designed to maximise the outdoor surroundings, including views towards the Tarlo River Gap & National Park.

The design intent was to incorporate a central lobby area, which holds together two other modules, creating a welcoming entryway and providing a space to mediate the entertaining zones from the bedrooms & bathrooms of the home.

The home will come with a 25,000L water tank in addition to the 75,000L tanks that currently exist on the property. The 15kw existing solar system will be upgraded and connected once onsite.
