Effortless Living on the Coorabell Ridge
Located high in the Coorabell hinterland of the Northern Rivers, Coorabell Ridge House is one of those rare homes that feels as though it has always been part of the landscape.
The home’s low-slung form follows the natural contours of the land, sitting comfortably in the hinterland rather than trying to dominate it. It’s the kind of architecture that just gets it, responding to climate, views, and site with confidence.
The home settles gently into the ridgeline, capturing expansive views across the Wilsons River valley while maintaining a quiet confidence. At 140m², it’s proof that great design isn’t about having more space, it’s about making every square metre work harder.
Built on Bundjalung Country
Coorabell Ridge House sits on the traditional lands of the Bundjalung Nation, whose people have cared for the rivers, rainforests, coastlines and hinterland of northern New South Wales for tens of thousands of years.
Bundjalung Country is deeply connected to culture, story and community, with an enduring relationship to the land that continues today. From the rich volcanic soils and waterways to the native flora and fauna that define the region, the landscape bears the imprint of generations of knowledge, stewardship and connection to place.

Small Footprint. Big Living.
At its heart, the Coorabell Ridge House is designed around a simple idea: create spaces that feel generous without being oversized.
At 140 m2, the floorplan brings together 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an open-plan living zone that spills seamlessly onto outdoor entertaining spaces.
Large openings frame the surrounding landscape at every opportunity, while covered decks blur the line between indoors and outdoors, a necessity in the Northern Rivers.
From Concept to Completion: A Seamless Journey
From the first conversation through to completion, the process was designed to be straightforward, collaborative and rewarding.
During the discovery phase, the brief was clear: create a restorative luxury home that embraces the beauty of the Northern Rivers landscape while providing a place to slow down, reconnect and unwind.
Through detailed visualisations, curated interior and exterior material palettes, and clear design communication, the clients were able to fully envision their future home long before construction began. This collaborative approach provided confidence at every stage and helped achieve a refined, high-quality outcome that stayed true to the original vision.
A narrow bridge stood between the design and its destination, so the project was crafted on-site to bring the architectural vision to life uncompromised. The result? A beautiful home that our clients are thrilled with.
Interiors That Feel Effortless
The interior design by our client Dave Beaman brings warmth, texture and a sense of calm to the home.
A restrained palette of natural materials, earthy tones and tactile finishes creates spaces that feel grounded in the Northern Rivers landscape, while carefully considered detailing elevates the everyday experience.
The result is an interior that feels relaxed yet refined, comfortable enough for barefoot mornings and family gatherings, yet sophisticated enough to complement the home’s architectural simplicity and sweeping hinterland views.
Off-Grid Living, Thoughtfully Designed
Performance has been built into Coorabell Ridge House from the very beginning, not added as an afterthought.
Thoughtful orientation, natural cross-ventilation and smart shading strategies do much of the work, helping maintain comfortable indoor temperatures year-round while reducing reliance on mechanical heating and cooling.
Designed to operate fully off-grid, the home is powered by solar energy and supported by two 25,000L water tanks, allowing it to function independently while remaining connected to its environment. High-grade insulation, ceiling fans and durable natural materials further enhance comfort, efficiency and longevity.
The home also meets a BAL19 bushfire rating, with carefully considered material selections and a designated RFS parking space seamlessly integrated into the design.
The Magic of Collaboration
The best projects happen when good people come together around a shared vision.
The Coorabell Ridge House is the result of a genuinely collaborative process between architecture, interiors, landscape and construction. Each discipline brings its own layer to the story, creating a home that feels cohesive from the first glimpse of the driveway to the last detail in the landscape.
