1. Cost-effectiveness

Leveraging off volume-building purchasing power, Arkular dwellings are delivered well below the high cost of current industry prices, providing affordability from concept to contract.

A significant advantage of our prefab, modular approach is its ability to save time during the build process, saving you money. These cost-saving benefits ensure resources can be directed towards well-considered design and high-quality materials

We’re proud of the value we add to each project. Whether we gain time or money (or both) through our efficiencies, we keep you informed at every step and ensure the benefits are always passed on to you.

How Arkular provides cost-saving benefits:

– Every client has an accurate idea of costs at the very first design presentation, providing a clear design direction.
– We have an impressive, comprehensive and transparent standard inclusions list.
– Our processes are streamlined, guaranteeing sharp turnarounds and fast completions.
– We provide exceptional project value across a mere 8 to 12 months for the entire process (timings depend on site and council).

2. Biophilic Design

Discarding 50,000 years of evolution within 200 years of revolution is irrational.

At Arkular, we design homes to recalibrate you with nature and re-connect you with the surrounding landscape to support productivity, well-being and physical health.

Biophilic design stems from the human need and urges to affiliate with nature. In the fast-paced world we live in, stealing moments of sanctuary within our everyday life makes us happier and healthier.

We integrate Biophilic Design through:

1. Visual connections with surrounding nature and natural elements
2. Non-visual connections with nature (textures, materials and sun patches)
3. Access to thermal and airflow variability (shade, seasonal vegetation, radiant heat)
4. Presence of water
5. Dynamic and diffused light
6. Prioritising prospect, refuge and mystery

3. Energy-efficiency

Designing an energy-efficient home is integral to reducing emissions and energy wastage and lowering your carbon footprint.

At Arkular, we are passionate about designing healthy, sustainably-driven homes.

We recommend using energy-efficient features and systems, including:

– Maximum star-rated electrical appliances
– Electricity usage meter
– Energy E LED Lights
– Grid-connected Solar Power Systems
– Upgrading to an electric reverse cycle split system is the most energy-efficient, lowest-cost heating option available that generates the lowest greenhouse emissions

Having an efficient home design will save energy, and create a more comfortable and durable home. Additionally, long and short-term cost benefits can be attained by reducing the amount of energy you use and opting for energy-efficient systems and appliances

Off-grid Living

Living off-grid means living in a home without connections to public utilities such as water, sewer and electricity. Going off-grid has many environmental and sustainability advantages

With clever design, careful planning, and implementation of the right systems, you can have an off-grid home that is sustainable and cost-effective.

4. Passive Design

Passive in design, yet active in nature. Our homes are designed to actively work within the unique landscape of each location.

Tracking the sun, following the wind and responding to weather patterns sets the rhythm for creating highly energy-efficient Arkular spaces.

To utilise passive design we implement the following:

– Optimised orientation to create thermal comfort
– Considered window placement for ventilation
– Effective insulation and glazing to maximise natural heating and cooling

Utilising Passive Design principles for effective thermal comfort can make a big difference in your energy consumption, keeping your bills down and saving you money.

5. Materials

The resources and materials we use can have a large impact on our health and well-being, so we prioritise using locally sourced, sustainable and eco-friendly resources.

Lifecycles of materials, from creation to destruction, are equally as important as their performance on your building.

At Arkular we opt for:

  • Low-VOC timber, paints, adhesives, sealants
  • Formaldehyde-free products
  • Sustainably sourced construction materials such as timber, stone and leather

We also recommend using products within your home made from natural plant-based materials to help lower greenhouse emissions and minimise contact with harmful chemicals, all contributing to a healthy home, family and life.

Using high-quality, sustainable materials, fixtures and fittings increases the durability of your home, and ensures you get value for your money over the long-term use of the structure.
