Design
Feature.

Redefining the expectations of your standard party pad, this luxury lakeside lodge is designed to entertain guests in the tranquil surrounds of Australia’s green space.

“A smart pre-fab design that does more with less,” the design team at Arkular tell us of their brief. Installed on site in only two weeks (the perks of pre-fab couldn’t be more clear in this timeline), the structure manifests as a singular multi-functioning space.

Smarter. Faster. Prefab.

Though the plan is complete with all the amenities you could need while being away from the main residence – a kitchenette, bathroom, sauna – the space is designed to be transformational, shifting with ease depending on the owners’ needs and wants at any particular time.

For guests that stay the night, a queen-size bed pulls down and out from the joinery, whereas when a wellness recharge is imminent, the bed is simply folded away to reveal a yoga studio. Or if there’s something to celebrate, this can also be utilised as additional floorspace to congregate.

A Sustainable and Regenerative Retreat

But, of course, the charm of this lakeside build is in its prudent positioning, and so entertaining is no better actualised than out on the timber deck in the open air with the water glimmering in the background.

For those brave enough, a diving jetty also offers an opportunity for a cold water plunge! But while the soirées here are sensational, its sustainability is what we really want to celebrate.

“The Agricultural Lakehouse is located on a property that employs regenerative agriculture’s holistic farm management practices which focuses on sustainability, improving soil health, reducing carbon footprint and increasing biodiversity.” Thus, a pre-fab approach to design seemed like the natural next step when it came to looking at a new addition for the plot.

With a shared appreciation for eco-conscious design, Arkular have ensured the dwelling is simply a continuation of the clients’ sustainable nature as the build utilises solar energy, passive design principles, high grade insulation and sustainably sourced timber…the list ensues.

Celebrating the Luxury of Less

A rural plot ached for a something to accompany its lake.

Looking to pre-fab construction for its efficiency and sustainable elements, the owners tasked Arkular with the design of a transformative space that could be used for entertaining as well as wellness pursuits.

A large open breeze-way runs across the centre of the plan and out through sliding doors onto a timber deck that graduates down to the water.

A kitchenette, dining space and living area sits opposite the bathroom, sauna and a multi-functioning spot with a pull-down bed.

The Advantages of Choosing Prefab

Pre-fab modular construction offers high-quality, high performing, and sustainable homes delivered in a shorter time frame.

At Arkular, each of our projects can be designed for the individual climate and opportunities of each site, whilst benefiting from the mass-produced volumetric efficiencies and providing cost-effective solutions for clients seeking architecturally designed sustainable homes.

In comparison to traditional building methods, pre-fab construction provides an efficient design and build option, while still delivering the same high quality, architecturally designed outcomes. This is achieved through the use of cutting-edge technology, standardisation of materials and controlled construction environments.

Pre-fabrication and modular construction also minimises waste production due to controlled environments and the streamlining of resources, with off-site construction assisting in reducing noise and air pollution and providing the ability for future disassembly, reuse, and recycling of components to further assist in minimising the environmental impact.

Why Prefab was Right

As the property is located in a rural location, pre-fab modular construction was the perfect choice to eliminate the stress and expense of getting trades to the site as often seen with a typical on-site build.

The choice of an off-site build also reduced disruption to the site, landscape, local flora and fauna, and to the neighbours. Faster turnarounds, efficient manufacturing environments and tighter off-site construction schedules meant the dwelling could be delivered and enjoyed quicker which also suited the client’s busy lifestyle.
