Insights
from the
architect.

The Design

The brief centres on passive performance and cross-ventilation. Orientation does the heavy lifting: living spaces open toward the north-east for morning light and expansive decking, while thoughtful window placement encourages airflow through the home. High ceilings paired with a flat or skillion roofline enhance volume and thermal performance, helping warm air rise and breezes circulate naturally.

Layout

The heart of the home is an open-plan living, dining and kitchen zone that flows directly onto an expansive deck, designed for everyday living as much as entertaining. Both bedrooms are larger than the standard S1 design and include full wall joinery for streamlined storage.

Sustainability

Sustainability is embedded into the design with passive solar orientation and cross-ventilation reduce reliance on mechanical cooling, split system air conditioning serves the main living area, supported by ceiling fans throughout, and the home will be built solar-ready setup with battery provision for a 13kW system.
