Our contribution plants native shrubs and trees within the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, supporting biodiverse reforestation and habitat restoration within Australia’s largest carbon sink project.
The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity CorridorÂ
The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor once had vast amounts of Salmon and York gum trees within the area, but by the early 1900’s more than 97% of the vegetation had been cleared for farming.
The program aims to link small patches of remaining vegetation and 12 nature reserves to create a large green corridor. Read about some of the positive impacts, extracted from the Carbon Neutral Fact sheet below:
Positive Impacts
– The project has injected over $8 million into the community, supporting 140 local businesses.
– Five aboriginal heritage sites discovered in archaeological surveys are now registered with the Department of Indigenous Affairs Registry.
– Creation of wildlife habitats and the reintroduction of plants and animals, including over 30 species of conservation-significant native plants, 13 conservation-significant bird species and 100s of insect species.
– Combatting desertification by protecting and stabilising the ground with vegetation, reducing soil salinity and erosion by wind and water.

The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor is the only project in Australia that’s achieved certification from Gold Standard for globally recognised best practices in carbon project development.
